I do a Socratic style method of going through these slides. That way I know that the info is really getting through to all students and I can assess their understanding throughout.
We will go through these hazard slides to set up the safety lesson.
History of workplace safety!! WOW!
Also may connect Johnny Cash’s little brother story here. (Very sad… I’ll let you look it up. )
Learning goals. Will go over the game plan here.
Discussion of CO detectors. What happens biologically to people when poisoned, how this connects to their placements. Reflection here.
How to use fire extinguishers!
Classifications of extinguishers.
Tour of classrooms in school here to inspect them.
What do you need?
Where would you need to use these?
Discussion of the act.
Questions listed on the slide to reflect on.
Two video hyperlinks are in here.
Really painful warble included. Enjoy!
Very short video link included here.
Go over this in detail, discussion on why all accidents are preventable.
Discussion of other case studies here. (Recent one at Pearson Airport?)
This takes more than one period and it needs to be done in one shot. Plan time accordingly.
Last slide gives a link to this:
I found this takes just over a full 75 minute period to do.
